Green Flag Breakdown Cover MembershipGreen Flag offers vehicle breakdown and recovery services in the UK and while travelling with your vehicle in Europe. Since its formation in 1971 as 'National Breakdown', the company has grown to serve some 5 million motorists in the UK with 24-hour breakdown assistance, 365 days of the year.
Green Flag's breakdown cover is a result of the organisation's reliance on a network of independent vehicle breakdown and recovery agents across the UK and Europe. When a call for roadside assistance or other breakdown service comes into Green Flag's incident management centre, the closest Green Flag agent in the network is contacted and dispatched to the breakdown scene. In the UK Green Flag has more than 6,000 independent technicians on call; across Europe Green Flag has some 15,000 bilingual agents ready to assist.

History of Green FlagSince entering the vehicle recovery and roadside assistance market in 1971, Green Flag has become a multi-million pound business rivalling the AA and RAC for market share. In a little under forty years of operation it has acquired a membership that is some three-quarters that of RAC. The key to Green Flag's rapid rise has been the organisation's commitment to provide their customers with a reliable and professional vehicle breakdown recovery service at a competitive price. Their philosophy is why spend money on expensive van fleets when a network of independent agents with local knowledge can deliver the same quality of service.
Green Flag Breakdown and Recovery ServicesGreen Flag's only business focus is roadside repair and vehicle recovery. They do not offer insurance, loans or any other type of associated product, a decision the company believes enables them to concentrate better on doing the basics well.
Green Flag Membership OptionsLike the AA and RAC, Green Flag have several breakdown cover options for their customers to choose from. These are:
Rescue: The Rescue option provides 24/7 roadside assistance plus vehicle recovery to the nearest garage.
Rescue Plus: Adds a home start option to the Rescue package, enabling members to receive roadside assistance for free on their own drive.
Recovery: Adds long distance vehicle recovery to the basic roadside rescue package, but excludes the home start option. With the Recovery option the vehicle and passengers are transported to any specified location in the UK.
Recovery Plus: Includes both the home start option and long distance vehicle recovery option in the package, together with roadside assistance. Members also gain coverage for onward journey costs - an option that provides access to alternative transport and financial cover for emergency overnight accommodation.
Euro Plus: Adds European cover to the Recovery Plus package. It enables members to receive roadside assistance and rescue in qualifying European countries for up to 90 days.
